Book Challenge

At the beginning of 2011, I promised myself I would read 50 books this year.
I am at six books right now. That includes Cue for Treason. FML.

A couple minutes ago, I came across this blog. Then, I remembered just how much I am failing. Fan fiction has taken over real books, for me. That and procrastination.

Anyways, I've decided that next year I will make a book challenge blog.  This year, I'm just going to put what book I'm reading at the bottom of my posts each day.

Library contests, and born this way.

Amazing born this way cover, by Sam Tsui.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZe1fcYLwBg&feature=player_embedded

I found this contest for teens that the libraries in my city put together, where you put a video on YouTube that is under one minute regarding your favourite book. I think i know what book I'm going to do. (: The deadline is April 2nd though, and I'm planning to do a video for all seven books, and a couple videos with my friend Holly, so I have to keep this post short because I have lots to do.

Weather: Err, nighttime?
Mood: Excited.
Snack: fudgesicle. Why is it that I'm always eating when I'm at my computer? It's beyond me. (Boyfriend by Molly Raesly has forever, kind of, ruined fudgesicles for me.)
Music: Maniac - Michael Sembello (It was in the movie flashdance.) I've listened to this song about 15 times a day for the past two weeks, because of a dance I did for class, which I presented today, yet I'm still listening to it. She's a maniac, maniac on the floor, and she's dancing like she's never danced before...
Book: Cue for Treason (for class), still. I should really get around to finishing it.
Fan Fiction: The Life and Times and The Story of Four Friends

BEDA & VEDA.

I've been posting three times a day on average here, but I'm sure once the novelty wears off, I won't post nearly as often. Someone named Mareen Johnson made a goal where she would blog every day in April (BEDA or VEDA if you're vlogging), and many bloggers do it every April. I've decided, I'll do it. Why not? It's something I enjoy and I'll see where it goes. I've been thinking of doing VEDA as well, since I have a YouTube channel, and I've never actually really used it. It'll be something fun. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do BEDA, but I'll have to work very hard to accomplish VEDA. I want to set these goals for myself because I'm a huge procrastinator. Seriously.

Weather: Sunny and warm enough for me to want to walk home from school. It was a 45-50 minute walk.
Mood: Happy.
Snack: Cherry gummies.
Music: September - Marianas Trench
Book: Cue for Treason (for class), still.
Fan Fiction: The Life and Times & The Story of Four Friends
^This list is growing everyday, and it really shouldn't be.

Thoughts on Harry and Ginny's Relationship.

Many people's favourite ship is Ginny and Harry. The question is, why? Is it because she's 'loved' him since she was 10? Is it because they look cute together? Is it because that way, Harry would fall in love with a red head just like his father? Is it because he saved her life? That Valentine's Day card? This picture?

Personally, I would say I like them together, but they didn't seem to have enough chemistry. In Harry Potter and the Half Blood-Prince, JKR told us that they were very happy together, but we didn't get to witness their relationship. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't work when the author just tells us how things are going, I need to read about it, and see the actual scenes. A good relationship that had that would be Ron and Hermione's, because you got to see it develop, but more on that later. (In another post.)

Also, in the movies, they are really awkward together, like they're not quite sure what to do or say to each other. Bonnie Wright's acting would have a part to play in that, but I expected more from Daniel Radcliffe. I wish they did a better job.

I don't enjoy Harry/Ginny fan fictions too much, because there isn't as much to invent as Lily/James fan fictions. Of course you can do those scenes they spent together at the lake, the dates they went on, but you can't do full length development stories, where you see their whole relationship develop through sixth year or something. Well, I guess theres the gap from the end of Deathly Hallows to Nineteen Years Later, but you don't have much of a guide line at all of what happened other than the fact that they had children. I mean, they look good together, but I somehow don't have a good grip on Ginny's character. I wouldn't be able to write up a convincing conversation between her and Harry. However, that might just be me. To tell the truth, the last time I read Harry/Ginny fan fiction in my memory was when I was eleven, which was a looong time ago. I'll probably check some out later. if anyone has suggestions for me to read, or particular good ones, comment below please? Thanks! (:

Morning, you are a dirty whore.

This morning, I literally rolled out of bed, changed, and rushed out the door.

Band practice (for school, I play alto saxophone) starts at 7:30, and I woke up at 7:15. I have serious issues with waking up in the morning. I just can't do it. I don't hear my alarm clock most days, and when I do, I turn it off and go back to sleep. However, if I do somehow get up early, I love it. I love the early morning feel with the sunrise and everything, but I just can't. I can't do it.

I just got a phone call saying that my yoga class tonight is canceled. Rejoice! I detest yoga, no offense to anyone who does it or likes it. I find it a bit boring. Well, at least my class is. You do the same stretches over and over, and I find myself staring at the clock all class. To tell the truth, it's only been one class, so it might get better, but as of now, I don't like it. I took the class just to be more flexible, and I have a goal to be able to do all three splits again by the end of this year. I used to be able to do all three, no problem, but now I'm not even close.

Weather: Warm, and when I say warm, I mean around 0°C - 5°C.
Mood: Very tired, relieved about the yoga class.
Snack: Gummy Worms. (:
Music: End of an Era - Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls
Book: Cue for Treason (for class), still.

Thoughts on James and Lily's relationship.

OKAY. I have got very little time but, I need to talk about Lily and James. Now. That simply just can not wait. At all.

First of all, the last girl to call him 'arrogant toe rag', married him. So obviously, he's very different. I'm pretty sure James changed in sixth year, but obviously, Lily wasn't about to go out with him right away, so they started dating in seventh year.

The whole pregnancy thing, I think that they got married first, and I'm pretty sure JKR confirmed that somewhere. Since they defied Voldemort three times, I'm guessing at least one or two of those times were while they were dating. James probably realized that they might die anytime, as they are in the Order of the Phoenix. Come on, he's been chasing after her for so long, I'm pretty sure he loved her before they started dating without even knowing it, and then soon after they started dating, he knew he was in love. Thus, he proposed. Lily, must of been in love as well, as James was in love for quite a while, which means he tried his best to be the perfect boyfriend, in fear of her dumping him, and he obviously wouldn't be able to handle that, and he would've fallen into complete depression. No offense to JKR, but her math really does not add up right. She said that Hogwarts has approximately 1000 students, but when you do the math, it only adds up to about 250 or so. Which also acks up the fact that they were most probably married before Lily got pregnant. That means that they actually got married because they loved each other, not because she was pregnant.

Regarding Severus, he was a death eater. He helped Voldemort kill Lily and James. He does things for himself, and no on else. Don't get me wrong, I still love his character despite everything he's done. He's changed.

If you have read good L/J fanfiction, you'll come to the realization that they are perfect for each other. Especially their cute banters where James enjoys getting Lily all riled up. :) Seriously. Consider reading a full length marauder's era fic. The Life and Times, which is the fic that brought me to blogging and everything, is amazing. It's incomplete, and they are just starting 7th year now, but it's more than twice as long as OotP, so you'll take a bit to catch up. Its so well written and amazing, you have to read it! You'll miss out on so much if you don't read it. I swear. You won't be disappointed. However, if you don't want to read a story with such a huge word count, read Boyfriend by Molly Raesly. That one is amazing too. It's one of my favourite ones. There's this other one called The Story of Four Friends, and it goes from first year, when they all meet, to when they all die. It's so realistic. The best part is that its from Remus's point of view. It's just totally awesome. You have to read at least one of these, if not, ALL THREE OF THEM.

I love how James was a troublemaker, and she was a prefect, and he becomes the Head Boy in seventh year (just imagine Lily's reaction to that), they were opposites, yet they were perfect for each other.

Marauder's Era fan fiction is the best because you know enough about them to know their characters and you have a brief description of what happened, ie. James liked Lily since fifth year, they started dating in seventh year, Snape and Lily were best friends until after the DADA OWL... Plus some parts of the story like when Sirius tried to kill Severus. < That's always amazing in fan fictions. However, there's the question of how James actually got Lily to fall for him, which is where all the fan fiction comes in. :) I love the fact that there's mystery, and I realized that I would be sad if JKR chose to write about the marauder's era as her prequel. It would ruin the mystery and the fan fiction. It just wouldn't be right.

I love Lily in James together so much, sometimes, I wonder if  I'm ever going to find my own James Potter. I'm head over heels in love with him. :)

Confessions 2 & 3

Confession #2 - I can't stand self absorbed people.

Confession #3 - I've always wanted to see what it's like to be a boy... I mean, they don't get their period, people don't spread ridiculous rumours around about them, gossiping, and all that annoying stuff that girls do(including me at times). Wouldn't that just be awesome?

Sirius Black, and a bit about stars, galaxies, and constellations.

In science class today, we were watching a video about different sizes of stars, I think it was. Anyways, there was a star that was called 'Sirius', and being me, I freaked out a bit and yelled, "Sirius Black!" and I might of squealed. People sitting near me were just giving me weird looks.

I think most of the Black family are named after constellations, stars, galaxies, etc. Regulus is another sun as well, Orion (Sirius's middle name and his dad's name) is a constellation, and the part of the Milky Way we live in is called Orion Spur. (Orion–Cygnus Arm) & Cygnus would be one of Sirius's uncles. Andromeda (Sirius's cousin, Bellatrix & Narcissa's sister) would be the closest galaxy to the Milky Way. That is just to name a few.

My Twitter. :)

Weather: Very cold, and very windy, yet there is hardly any snow left. That is what I get for living in Canada.
Mood: Tired, somewhat happy because more excerpts on chapter 31 were posted for TLAT.
Music: Everybody Loves Me - OneRepublic (It was posted on ^ blog, and its A Very (James) Potter song. I just picture James casually, strutting down the hall at school with girls just throwing themselves at him (and I'm one of them). And I can see Lily rolling her eyes and smirking at him.

Happy Birthday, James Potter!

I am in love with James Potter, and I will forever defend James Potter. Not because he was perfect, because he wasn’t. But then again, who is? I defend him because he loved and he changed and he died honourably and thus he deserves all the recognition Severus Snape gets. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAMES! :) ♥

Confession 1, and some other things.

Confession #1 - I am terrified of children. Not necessarily when they're being cute, but when they are screamy, poopy, and terrifying. When I babysit, I am scared for my life. I'm not too sure why I do it.

I love Regina Spektor. Her music is so inspirational. I found her through my favourite movie 500 Days of Summer.  The sound track for that movie is awesome.

I need to purchase this ASAP.

"Platform 9 3/4? There ain't no such thing. You're the 700 kid to ask me that today and I still refuse to believe it exists!"

You know you're a dork when...

...there's a dance at your school, all your friends are going, but you'd rather be at home rereading a fan fiction that's been going on a while and you can't remember all the fuzzy details. (The Life and Times

Actually, I didn't end up doing either, I babysat, while wishing I were at the dance. Wow, I have difficulties making up my mind.

P.S. - If any of you guys start to read The Life and Times, let me know. :)

Oxford English Dictionary

OMG, LOL, and FYI were added to the Oxford English Dictionary yesterday. Now, teachers can't correct their use in papers.

L/J Fan Fiction

As I admitted as one of my confessions, I read fan fiction ALL THE TIME. (I occasionally write it.) So I thought I'd tell you my thoughts on fan fiction. First of all, I only ever read Harry Potter fan fiction. I think I may of read one or two of something else, but that was quite a while ago. I used to read about a variety of ships like Ron and Hermione, but now, I just stick to James and Lily.

I think Marauder's Era fan fiction is the best because you know enough about them to know their characters and you have a brief description of what happened, ie. James liked Lily since fifth year, Lily hated everything about James, they started dating in seventh year, Snape and Lily were best friends until after the DADA OWL... However, there's the question of how James actually got Lily to fall for him, which is where all the fan fiction comes in. :)

My favourite author for James and Lily is Molly Raesly.
I'm currently reading The Life and Times by Jewels5 (it is totally awesome, and you should go and read it). She also has as a blog about the fic and gives excerpts of new chapters here.
I'm also reading The Story of Four Friends while I wait for The Life and Times chapter updates. It's told from Remus Lupin's point of view, and I love it. :)

If anyone likes reading about Ron and Hermione, I suggest you read EVERYTHING by Pinky Brown, she's amazing.

I really hope you found those links useful, because they took me forever to do, and I was all confused by the HTML stuff.

PS, This is my favourite piece of fan art ever. :)
Disclaimer, I did not draw this, although I wish I did.

Vending Machine Disorders

Hello there. Don't you just love it when you get free stuff randomly?

I was standing near a vending machine, just talking with my friends at school when I heard the glorious sound of a drink falling from inside the vending machine to where you can pick up the drink you just bought. I looked over to the vending machine, and there was no one there to claim their drink!(It was a bottle of flavoured water, rasberry.) I stood there staring at the vending machine for another 10 seconds, then I ran over to it and grabbed the bottle of flavoured water. :) The thing just fell out of the vending machine randomly.

I think it's just the fact that vending machines at my school are just really messed up. One time, my friend bought a pepsi, and nine pepsis came tumbling out of the vending machine. Pretty awesome eh?

I should really buy drinks at my school vending machine more often. I'm sorry this post was all about vending machines.

Confessions.

I've been posting confessions for the last couple days on my facebook page, ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-used-to-like-you-Then-you-made-fun-of-Harry-Potter/182961688411128 ) because I posted a status that said, 'For every like on this status, I'll confess something'. :)

I still haven't posted all the confessions yet (there are 59 likes and counting at the moment), but I really enjoyed posting all those confessions. A couple of confessions went like this.

Confession #1 - When theres pretty girls around, I feel really inferior.
Confession #3 - I used to like Twilight. I mean really, really like it. (It's all good now I absolutely hate it)
Confession #8- I laugh at the girls who think they can dumb themselves down and more guys will like them. Honey, he just thinks you're too dumb from stopping him from getting into your pants.
Confession #12 - I used to think fanfiction was really dorky, but now I'm pretty much addicted to it.
Confession #14 - Luna Lovegood is my rolemodel. She's not afraid to be herself even when people think she's strange.
Confession #17 - I am a very shy person.
Confession #22 - Sometimes, I feel really alone. Even when I'm with my friends. It's one of my biggest fears. Being alone.
Confession #34 - I know the past is gone, but I want to get it back. I started reading Harry Potter in early 2008. After the books were all out. It's my biggest regret. I wish I started reading it, as soon as I learned to read.
Confession #45 - Sometimes, I feel like my life is just a boring routine I follow everyday, with nothing new. Just pointless and going nowhere at times.

I love how everybody responded in such a caring, understanding and compassionate way. They gave advice, they admitted to doing the same things, it was just great. It brought us together. So on this blog, I'm going to try and post a confession every couple days or so. :)

Thoughts on Petunia.

^ That is a Deathly Hallows Part 1, deleted scene. (Petunia and Harry)

I really wish they included this into the movie. Petunia is human too, and I think she should of had this scene just to show she really did care. I think that Petunia Evans was very jealous of her younger sister. If I were placed in her position, I would most probably feel the same, and I'd like to say that I'd handle it differently, but lets face it, your little sister is a witch who can do this crazy magic, and your parents are so amazed by it, you'd probably feel a little left out. I do think that Petunia never felt good enough for her parents and she could never be like Lily, so she rejected everything that Lily did, shut herself off from Lily, and hated everything and anything involving Lily. I feel terribly sorry for Petunia Evans. Her story is such a tragedy.
